Will my health insurance cover Dietitian counseling?
Before making a formal appointment I always suggest that clients call their health insurer to see what type of dietetic counseling is covered with your medical condition(s); such as obesity, Type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension, high triglycerides, PCOS, IBS, etc. And make sure you specifically use the word "dietitian" (not nutritionist) since only dietitians can be covered by medical insurance.
What forms of payment does Amy Horwitz Nutrition take?
I accept cash (US$), checks, and most major credit cards and will provide you with a receipt for your records, as well as a medical insurance form for you to submit to your health insurer.
What is a Dietitian?
A dietitian is required to have a bachelor's degree (with a concentration in nutrition and science), a one-year internship under the supervision of experienced professionals in the field, and pass the RDN certification examination offered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
